approx. .75K or 1/2 mile

Swim features an out and back course leaving from a large boat dock and returning to a beach area. The course will be marked with buoys and will be patrolled by lifeguards' canoes and kayaks. Water temperature is expected to be 78-80 degrees.

approx. 20K or 12 miles

The bike course follows a route around the perimeter of Decker Lake. From the transition zone athletes will exit the park via the main gate and turn right on Hog Eye Road which merges into Decker Lake Road. Next they will turn right into the Travis County Expo Center Gate 3, follow the perimeter road, exit via Gate 1 and turn right on to Decker Lane and then right on Lindell Lane- follow Lindell to Bloor Rd and then turn right onto Highway 973. From Highway 973, turn right on Decker Lake Rd, right on Blue Bluff Rd and then enter the park via the main gate.

NOTE: All bikes must be racked (checked in) at transition zone at Decker Lane on Saturday June 7th. No bike racking on day of Race.

approx. 5K or 3.1 miles

The run course exits from the transition zone and follows a course along a grassy path through the park. Note: Depending upon weather conditions, a portion of the course may have to be deleted due to flooding concerns, resulting in a slightly shorter run course than 5K.

NOTE: The Run course is closed until the long grass has been mowed, which is usually in early May. The opening of these areas to foot traffic is at the discretion of the Austin Parks and Recreation Department.

DIRECTIONS TO RACE DAY PARKING and SHUTTLE SERVICE – Sunday, June 8, 2008

All athletes and spectators will be parking at the Travis County Expo Center on Race Day. Please allow sufficient time for traveling to avoid delays in parking and transportation to Race Site.

Arrival at the park:

Shuttles will run from the Travis County Expo Center beginning at 5:30am for participants and spectators, with preference being given to participants. Spectators who do not make it on the last shuttle bus will need to walk approximately one mile to the Race Site. All walkers must stay on the grass and off the Race Course.

Due to the high volume of folks being transported, lines and periodic delays to the park may occur. PLAN TO ARRIVE EARLY enough to allow for any delays. The last shuttle WILL leave Travis County Expo Center at 7am.

After the race:

Shuttles will begin return service to the Travis County Expo Center as soon as last cyclist is off the course, which will be approximately 10:30am. Return service will continue until noon for people heading back to the parking area. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Bikes are not allowed on the shuttles - athletes will need to walk or ride their bikes back to the parking area - spectators may walk back with athletes or plan to meet at the parking lot if shuttle transport is preferred. For those who do walk back to the Expo Center (about a mile away), you will be required to walk on the grass inside the fence line, and make sure to keep the roads clear for the buses. Athletes who choose to ride their bikes back to the parking area MUST wear their helmets.
