WHAT RACE CATEGORY SHOULD I ENTER?

If you'd like to compete with others within your age group and be eligible for awards, enter in the AGE GROUP CATEGORY.
If you'd like to participate with your friends/family of varying ages and don’t mind not being eligible for awards, enter in the MIXED AGE GROUP CATEGORY.
If you would like to complete only 1 or 2 legs of the triathlon, join with others in the RELAY TEAM CATEGORY (NOTE: you must find your relay team members).
If you have been a top 10 finisher and/or top 3 finisher in your Age Group Category in a triathlon of 300 or more females, you may be eligible to compete in the ELITE CATEGORY.

MAY I SIGN UP AS AN ELITE RACER?

Athletes who would like to participate in the Elite category should register in the Age Group category and submit their previous Race results at time of entry to mark@timberlinetiming.com. All athletes whose Race records warrant a Change of Entry category will automatically have their Race registration changed to the Elite category in the registration database. Allow 10 days for your Race records to be reviewed and to be notified of category change.

NO CHANGES TO ANY ENTRY CATEGORY WILL BE MADE ON RACE WEEKEND

WHAT IS THE MIXED AGE GROUP CATEGORY?

Due to its popularity, we will continue to offer a "Mixed Age Group category." This category is designed for women who are of varying ages but want to do the Race together (family, friends, colleagues or training partners).

Athletes entered in the Mixed Age Group category will:

Be able to participate with a friend/family member/colleague/training partner who is not within your age group bracket (ie. You are 25, friends with whom you are doing the Race are 36 and 51)
Receive an official Race time
Receive a finisher's medal

Athletes entered in the Mixed Age Group will NOT:

Be eligible for Age Group awards.

Mixed Age Group waves will be the final wave Starts at each Race.

NO CHANGES TO ENTRY CATEGORY WILL BE MADE ON RACE WEEKEND.

PROCEDURE FOR MIXED AGE GROUP START:

In order to ensure that "Race Times" are able to be provided to all Mixed Age Group Category participants as promised, Mixed Age Group Category participants will need to start the triathlon in a uniform manner:

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS:

WEAR YOUR TIMING CHIP AROUND YOUR ANKLE. The timing chip tracks your progress in the water, on the bike and the run course; collecting these “times” provides the data for your overall “Race Time” for your triathlon.
Approach the beach and Swim Start "Corral Area". You will start in one of the last waves - so stay back a bit and look for all of the other MIXED AGE GROUP Category bathing caps.
If your goal is to do the Race with a particular person/persons - gather with these people at the Swim Start.
When the "Corral Boss" calls out "MIXED AGE GROUP WAVE - COME ON DOWN" --approximately 100 participants will be directed across the SWIM START TIMING MATS to the water's edge. Wait there for a start command from the announcer.
The remaining group of participants will be asked to wait BEHIND the SWIM START TIMING MATS in order to form the next Mixed Age Group Category Wave. The process will then repeat for the remaining Mixed Age Group Category waves.

Your "personal" start time will be calculated from the Chip reading that we get for you on the SWIM START TIMING MATS - so please be sure to help us by grouping in the Corral, crossing the timing start mats in a wave group, and generally being alert to the Start process.

WHAT IS THE AGE GROUP CATEGORY?

The Age Group category is designed for women who want to do the Race with individuals within their own age group (5 year increments).

Athletes entered in Age Group category will:
Be able to compete on an individual basis for official Race Time within your age group (14-19, 20-24, 25-29, etc)
Be eligible for Age Group awards (Top three (3) in each category)
Receive a Finisher's Medal

NOTE: "Being in the same Age Group" (in 5 year increments) does NOT guarantee "being in the same wave" (100 women per wave). IF starting together (Swim Start) is your #1 priority, then you should enter Race in the Mixed Age Group Category (click here)

NO CHANGES TO ENTRY CATEGORY WILL BE MADE ON RACE WEEKEND.

WHAT IS A RELAY TEAM?

A Relay Team consists of 2 or 3 women who collectively complete all 3 triathlon disciplines: swimming, biking and running. Each member of a Relay Team must be identified by name on the entry form. Each team member MUST attend Saturday's Mandatory Race Materials Pick-Up and ALL members of each Relay Team must check in together at the Relay registration table to sign a race waiver (one per participant) and show photo ID. NO Relay Team packets or materials will be released until all team members have arrived together and complete the check in process. Each team member finisher will receive a tank shirt, souvenir Series bag and finisher medal.

We cannot help you identify potential Relay Team members.

NO CHANGES TO ENTRY CATEGORY WILL BE MADE ON RACE WEEKEND.
