HOW IS MY WAVE ASSIGNED?

Waves are assigned according to Entry Category (ie: Elite, Age Group, Relay, Mixed)

CAN I SWITCH MY WAVE?

Wave assignments cannot be changed. If you take off in the wrong wave, you are subject to disqualification.

HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE IN MY WAVE?

Wave numbers are approximate and are assigned to facilitate timing and ensure accuracy and safety. On average, the number of participants in a wave is 100-150.

HOW MANY MINUTES APART DO THE WAVES START?

Waves will start approximately every 3 minutes.

WHEN WILL THE WAVE ASSIGNMENTS BE FINALIZED?

Wave assignments will be completed no earlier than a week prior to the Race and will be posted at the Mandatory Packet Pick-Up (Expo) on Saturday.

MAY I WEAR A WETSUIT?

USA Triathlon Federation Rule 4.4 Wet Suits states: Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wet suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit. The wetsuit policy for elite athletes shall be determined by the USAT Athletes Advisory Council.

WHY CAN'T I USE FLIPPERS, KICKBOARDS, OR FLOATIES?

DWTS encourages women of all shapes, sizes and athletic abilities to "tri" something for the first time at the Danskin Women's Triathlon Series. However, the safety of all participants is paramount. If you are not confident that you can complete the Swim portion of the event without swimming aids, then you present a danger not only to yourself, but also to other athletes in the water, and for this reason, we must ask that you not participate. A better alternative for a weak swimmer (one who needs the assistance of swimming aids) is participation on a Relay Team as a cyclist or runner. Unfortunately, we cannot help you identify potential Relay Team members.

WHAT IS A SWIM ANGEL?

Danskin® Swim Angels are VOLUNTEERS who participate in the swim segment providing encouragement and support to women who may experience temporary anxiety in the water. Swim Angels are instructed NOT to provide swim assistance or to attempt safety measures (this is the exclusive domain of the lifeguards).

The Program has gained great popularity among volunteers and participants since it was started.

We are looking for women who have a strong swim/endurance background, great comfort in the water and lots of enthusiasm.

Shifts in the water can be from 30 minutes to an hour at a time.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Ardis Bow at ardisbow@pacbell.net.
