COURSE DESCRIPTION (as of March 10, 2008)
The Series' season finale scheduled for the New York Metropolitan Area, will take place at the Sandy Hook Unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area, a 26,000 Acre Park that includes units in the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island in addition to Sandy Hook, NJ. This scenic 1660 acre National Park includes the Sandy Hook Lighthouse; built in 1764 it is the oldest operating lighthouse in America.

The 1/2 mile Swim takes place in the protected waters of the Lower New York Bay. The Swim Start and Finish will be staged on the beach at the U.S. Coast Guard Station at Sandy Hook which is located on the Northern end of Sandy Hook National Park. The course will be rectangular in design and all buoys will be on your left while swimming. The Swim Finish to the transition area is approximately 200 yards. Water temperature should be in the low 70's on race weekend.

The 11 mile Bike course is a flat and fast out and back course from the U.S. Coast Guard Station to the Park entrance and back.

3.1 miles

The 5K Run course is an out and back course that starts at the U.S. Coast Guard Base and finishes just beyond the giant cannon in the Sandy Hook Historical District. The course is flat and scenic and takes you past the oldest working lighthouse in the country. Water stations will be located at the Start and every mile along the course. |

Danskin Women's Triathlon Series reserves the right to modify, which may include shortening, any of the three courses (Swim, Bike, Run) or cancel a specific leg of the Race at any point during the Race, if so advised by the Race Management Team.
